A sitemap is a single page that outlines the structure and content of the government website.
  • It should be convenient and easy-to understand in order to facilitate the access to the information for users.
  • All government websites must include a sitemap, serving as a navigational aid.
  • Sitemaps should reflect the hierarchy of the website sections.
  • Sitemaps must be displayed in plain text format to be universally accessible.
  • A sitemap must be made available in each supported language.
  • An “A-Z” pages index may be used as a support navigation tool, along with the sitemap.
  • Sitemaps must be reviewed and updated periodically.
  • Web information managers should establish schedule or process for regularly reviewing and updating the sitemap.
  • A link to the sitemap page must be available at a consistent location throughout the website.
