The responsibility of maintaining the website should be assigned to and handled by a specialized team allocated by the government entity and each site should have a web information manager responsible for the website in its different aspects covering the following:
Moderate content process including authoring, approval and publishing.
Set a mechanism for periodical revisions of the website and aligning it with its objectives.
Make sure the website always has acceptable search engine rankings and make sure proper SEO is being implemented.
Ensure that the overall content is up to the standards in terms of its quality and quantity.
Follow up on website users’ feedback being submitted in the appropriate ways by either replying back or by assigning other to do that; it is key to let users know that the website is responsive and that they are being heard to prevent users from being discourage to use the website.
An important role that must be available within the website management team is the web technical manager that will manage all the technical aspects of the solution. Following is a list of responsibilities:
Regular monitoring of the website performance
Regular monitoring of the website statistics
Regular monitoring for the website security logs
Regular monitoring of the website issues and problems
Regular audits after each website update
Regular monitoring of website uptime using some specialized service like those provided by Alertra.com
Handle and route any issues to the applicable responsible entities
