General Rules

  • Government websites must be conformant to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). The conformance must be at least at the WCAG 2.0 “AA” Conformance Level. This will ensure support for people with special needs and disabilities.
  • Government websites must be functional on all major browsers available.
    Example:
    IE6, IE7, IE8 +Compatibility modes, Mozilla, safari, chrome …
  • Government websites should not be dependent on a specific client-side technology or platform.
  • Government websites must not use browser-specific mark-up, styling or scripting methods.
    Example:
    Do not use “-moz-border-radius” for rounded-border boxes, since this works only in Mozilla browsers.
