Migration of Existing Sites

The situation analysis performed prior to establishing the present Standards and Guidelines studied and evaluated the state of existing government owned websites. One of the criteria that were considered is the value added by the currently adopted domain names. The analysis showed that there is lack of a standard approach in naming domains and distributing URLs and hence the industrial value of a domain name is not being fully exploited. This justifies the cost that would be incurred from changing a domain name; as the potential benefits at stake are high. It is a must that government entities change the naming of their websites domains to be conforming to the present Standards and Guidelines domain naming conventions.
