The header of a website plays a major role in the overall layout as it holds the main information that identifies him from another site. Therefore the header
must:
- Be distinct and separated from the rest of the content.
- Be displayed on all pages.
- Display the Lebanese government name, government entity name and logo and the national emblem.
- Contain links to the different languages; Arabic being the default language, with French and English as secondary options. When linking to pages in other languages, write link text in the language that is being linked to. Not use flags images for indicating the choice of the content language. Flags symbolize a country, not a language.
Example:
Write “العربية” (in Arabic letters) and “Français” instead of “Arabic” and “French”. Without any flags next to them.
- Outline the different sections of the website, i.e. the main navigation.
- Include a search box that allows user to quickly look for specific content across the website. See section Search
- Not contain any images other than the ones related to the identity.
- Not have a height larger than 200 pixels to minimize the scroll level.
The header
may also display the current date.
