The language style is an important attribute of the content of a website as it greatly affects the experience of the user while reading the text directly or through a screen reader. A screen reader does not expect the information on a website to be similar to the information on a print medium. Consequently, data can be made screen reader friendly by following the rules listed in this section.

All information displayed on government websites must be:
  • Simple
  • Short
  • Concise
  • Accurate
  • Assertive

Before displaying anchor information, a government entity may run a mini-survey to ensure that the data is friendly and easy to understand. It may also use existent software that evaluates the readability of the website’s content.
