To abandon a certain domain name and shift to using another domain name the following steps
should
be taken:
Use a forwarding service to forward request from the old domain to the new one.
Create e-mail addresses with the new domain name that match the existing e-mail addresses used with the old domain name.
Place appropriate web pages and messages under the old domain to redirect users from the old domain to the new domain.
Promote for the website by referring to the new domain.
