There may be some situations where a Lebanese government entity believes the use of the Web Standards and Guidelines will impact negatively on its message and other entities might provide substantial and genuine evidence hindering the application of the Web Standards and Guidelines on their respective websites.

Consequently, exemptions may be allowed on a case-by-case basis according to the following procedure:
  • The requesting entity’s Minister or Director General will send an official request to the Minister of state for Administrative reform outlining the need and justifications for exemption from the standards and guidelines along with the sample exemption form template which is found on the website http://www.omsar.gov.lb/webstandards
  • The Minister of state for Administrative reform will forward the exemption request to the Standards and Management Team leader asking for his/her advice and recommendations
  • The Standards and Management Team will study the case and prepare the required technical and administrative justifications then propose a duration for the exemption to be granted (not exceeding a certain period preferably a year from the date of the request) as well as suggest the subsequent steps needed to adhere to the standards after the exemption period is over. The team will forward the documents to the team leader, who will review and prepare the reply letter to be sent to the Minister of state for Administrative reform for approval
  • The Minister of state for Administrative reform will forward the recommendations of the Standards and Management Team to the requesting entity.
