Government websites should use consistent terminologies while naming certain data such as departments/ titles/time and date/currency/telephone numbers.
  • Terminologies and titles: Every entity must prepare a list of the most frequent terminologies (such as department and titles) used on the website. All concerned stakeholders should review the list, approve its content and website editors must use the same terminology across all published information.
  • Time: when mentioning time, web editors should include the most commonly used standard timing GMT (Greenwich Mean Time), (e.g. 13:50, Beirut, Lebanon, GMT +2).
  • Date: The Day must precede the Month in the adopted date format (e.g. ”dd/mm/yyyy”, “14-Mar”, “14-Mar-2011” etc.).
  • Date: In case the current date is displayed in the header it must be of the form “dd/mm/yyyy” or “yyyy/ االشهر/dd “ for Arabic (e.g. تشرين الثاني 2010 3).
  • Date: the date must be always displayed on all the web pages of the website.
  • Currency: when mentioning the Lebanon currency, it should be uniform across all websites, as per international convention, Lebanon’s currency is LBP.
  • Telephone numbers: as per international convention, the telephone number should be mentioned as follows: + country code, area code, telephone number (e.g. +961 1 222111).
