Users might visit the website looking for information that’s beyond the purview of the administration. Thus, providing links to other official as well as non official websites is necessary to fulfill users’ request for information.

All Lebanese government websites must incorporate a “Hyperlinking Policy” to facilitate the access to information, and ensure credibility in user’s mind as to the accuracy of the content hyperlinked.

Recommended Hyperlinking Policy statement:
“[Name of Administration] Policy on Linking To Other Websites

The following policy was developed to ensure consistency in [Name of Administration]’s approach to linking its website with websites managed by other organizations. Links from the [Name of Administration] website to another website will be allowed for the relevant Lebanese administration bodies, agencies and departments. There is no need for [Name of Administration] to seek the approval or cooperation of any other governmental body, agency or administration in order to link to that body’s website. Links from [Name of Administration] website to another organization’s website will not be undertaken for commercial purposes whatsoever.

Links to websites not under the control of the [Name of Administration] are provided solely for the convenience of users. [Name of Administration] is not responsible for the accuracy, currency or the reliability of the content. [Name of the Administration] does not offer any guarantee in that regard and is not responsible for the information found through these links, nor does it endorse the sites and their content.”

Additionally, other websites might need to link to the administration’s website thus a well defined policy regulating this area must be put in place.

We recommend the following statement:
Policy on Linking To [Name of Administration] Websites
