When multiple parties are required to achieve uniform and consistent results, a set of policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures is required. These concepts exhibit a hierarchical relationship depicted in the figure below. The standards, guidelines and procedures provide support for the policy and are required for achieving its objectives.
