Citizens must be able to identify official government websites and trust that those websites will provide current and accurate government information consistent with legal principles and laws in force.

Official websites must respect Intellectual Property, and any other relevant legal text related to Access to Information, Data protection and Privacy.

Agreement with suppliers

We recommend that all contracts for government websites design and development include a compliance statement, whereby the third party implementing the website is bound to apply the standards and guidelines in the design and development exercise.

Maintenance services should accommodate for the future application of standards and guidelines on the government websites even after the site has been published under a different look and feel.
