The website's structure is based on a 12 column grid following the below measurements:
  • Single column width: 60px
  • Gutters: 20px
  • Side margins: 10px
  • Total width: 960px

a. Main columns

  • The homepage is broken down into three main columns, each measuring 300px
  • To allow for more space for the content area, the sub-pages are broken down into four main columns, each measuring 220px. The two centre columns can merge into one content region

b. Height measurements

  • The header size is 147px high and the main navigation bar 40px high
  • The horizontal title bar is 5px thick and the height between the modules is 20px
  • The footer size is 210px high

c. Image sizes

  • All images (except publications) follow a 4x3 aspect ratio and their sizes are the width of their column and then scaled proportionally to maintain consistency.

We suggest the following thumbnail sizes:
  • 140px wide x 104px high
  • 80px wide x 60px high
  • 73px wide x 95px high (for publications in side modules)
  • 107px wide x 139px high (for publications listing)
