Technical Training on the Website Standards

Within the framework of the “Website Standards & Guidelines for the Government of Lebanon” project, OMSAR organized a five day technical training session on the application of website standards to government websites, with attendees from various public entities.
The “Website Standards & Guidelines for the Government of Lebanon” project aims at establishing website development Standards and Guidelines for all Lebanese ministries, agencies, departments, boards, and councils. These standards and guidelines will cover all current and upcoming Lebanese Government websites, by presenting a common look-and-feel to indicate an official website of the Lebanese Government.
 
 
The technical training sessions took place between October 11th and October 19th 2011 in OMSAR Conference Room, and were given by Born Interactive staff, who are the consultants on this project.

Attendees included OMSAR staff and representatives from the Presidency of the Republic, Presidency of Council of Ministers, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy and Trade, Ministry of Social Affairs, Ministry of Interior and Municipalities, Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Central Administration for statistics, the Interior Security Forces, Libnor, National Conservatory and the Directorate General of General security.

The technical training included:

• In depth explanation of the Standards and Guidelines;
• Best practices and effective methods and techniques to follow in deploying the Standards and Guidelines in real situations;
• Hands-on training on the use of the webmasters design toolkit;
• Hands-on exercises of actual deployment of the Standards and Guidelines to real website examples
• General Questions and Answers

Several tools were provided to the trainees during the course of the training, including user guides, CDs and other helpful and useful material such as the webmasters design toolkit, available for download on the website http://www.omsar.gov.lb/webstandards
